Almost home!

Do you know how many nautical miles in total EUROPA will have sailed from her anchorage in Ushuaia, where she left on March 27th at 11:30 local time, until she will arrive at the harbour heads in Scheveningen? And do you know how many days she will have sailed in total from Ushuaia to Scheveningen?

We challenge you to take a guess!

When captain Eric plotted the waypoints on the chart in Ushuaia, he came to a total distance of 8740 nautical miles to sail to Scheveningen. Based on expected sailing conditions, he estimated an average speed of 5.1 knots, which would then give about 71 days to sail to their destination. However, due to the actual (not statistical) weather conditions during a passage, a sailing ship rarely follows the exact planned route and as you can see on our Follow the Ship webpage, neither did we.
