After four days preparing in Salvador, it is time to leave and start the final leg of the journey of Willem Schouten and Lemaire. The ship is anchored off the yacht club in Salvador de Bahia and awaits her new crew. This adventure began in the Netherlands on September 8, 2015 and brought the ship already in Portugal, Spain, the Cape Verde islands, and after crossing an ocean in Brazil. 

After all ceremonies and a warm welcome on board by the captain and mate the time has come. There is no time to lose! There must be thousands of miles traveled the last of 3000 only under sail. The anchor is heaved and the sails unfurled. EUROPA slowly turns and while the sails bellow the course is set to the south. Our adventure around Cape Horn begins!
