Yesterday we arrived at the little Devil's Island, anchoring on the inside of the northern bay of Vega island. We had a calm landing at shore, amongst stones of ice. We walked across the island between the two peaks to the northern side where Europa usually anchors. The group thereafter naturally selected in non-, keen- and supereager climbers, the latter group climbing both of the Devil's horns.

Yesterday we arrived at the little Devil's Island, anchoring on the inside of the northern bay of Vega island. We had a calm landing at shore, amongst stones of ice. We walked across the island between the two peaks to the northern side where Europa usually anchors. The group thereafter naturally selected in non-, keen- and supereager climbers, the latter group climbing both of the Devil's horns. Going back in the Zodiacs proved a little difficult because of iceblocks blocking our little "harbour", but once out on the water it reminded me of a beautiful summer's evening in the archipelago on the Swedish westcoast; the bay like a mirror in the setting sun. Temperature and colours
differed though.

The night offered interesting anchor watches with variable winds and drifting growlers and minor icebergs to be checked upon, and today the icematter continued. We were hopefully heading for Snow Hill Island, following the Nordenskjold expedition, and came pretty close. But we had to give up according to ice conditions, to some peoples great disappointment! Right now we have found open waters and are nicely sailing northward bound. Hopefully Europa has made it's service as mini-icebreaker for this time!
